The National Association of Stock Plan Professionals (NASPP), the leading membership association devoted to meeting the needs of stock plan professionals, seeks an experienced, self-directed sales professional for the new position of Membership Sales Manager. This individual is responsible for growing the association membership base, by developing and implementing membership recruitment and retention programs and strategies.
Reporting to the Director, Relationship Management, and with minimal supervision, the Membership Sales Manager will be expected to establish, develop and maintain relationships with current and prospective members. Key to this important role is the responsibility for selling memberships to prospective members. S/he needs to be creative, self-starting, well-organized, detail-oriented, and capable of working under pressure and meeting multiple deadlines. The Membership Sales Manager will be required to work collaboratively with staff and content creators of NASPP and be driven to achieve specific goals and possesses the ability to think strategically, showing the highest level of excellence and tact and integrity
Develop a thorough understanding of the value proposition of NASPP membership and articulate to prospective members. Develop a strong working knowledge of the NASPP and its various programs.
Establish, develop and maintain business relationships with current members and prospective members across market segments to generate new membership sales and business for the NASPP.
Identify and develop sources for adding new members. Analyze market potential and determine the value of various prospective target sectors for membership (technology, finance etc.).
Coordinate sales and promotional effort with marketing, sales management, logistics and technical service groups. Provide leadership to develop and implement monthly, quarterly and annual sales and retention plans.
Orient new members to the NASPP and assist members in taking full advantage of their membership.
Work with marketing to enhance membership recruitment and retention efforts. Manage annual renewal process.
Work with group members to ensure that they avail themselves of all benefits of their memberships.
Promote and sell other NASPP products (the annual conference, online educational programs) to both existing members and nonmembers.
Develop strategies to better leverage NASPP chapters in promoting membership and annual conference.
Stay informed and educated on market conditions, competitive activities, advertising and promotional trends through the reading of pertinent literature and consulting with marketing and content areas. Build and maintain competitive awareness of new products and services and other research.
Advise marketing in the development and relevancy of sales and marketing collateral.
Manage quality and consistency of product and service delivery. Identify and expedite the resolution of membership concerns.
Coordinate with company staff to manage the sales and renewal process for membership.
Provide management with oral and written reports on member feedback, market trends, internal membership data, competitive activities, and potential for new products and services.
Represent the organization and participate in various meetings and activities and industry trade shows and events.
Bachelor’s degree in marketing or business or related field.
Four years of commensurate work experience in sales, business development or marketing.
Knowledge of stock/equity compensation planning.
Hands-on experience with a membership association a plus.
Demonstrated aptitude for problem-solving; ability to determine solutions for members and potential members (consultative sales approach).
Strong networking orientation.
Confidence to prospect/cold-call target customers.
Knowledge of advertising and sales promotion techniques. Ability to convert prospects and close deals and achieve sales quotas.
Ability to build and maintain relationships with customers. Confidence to develop and deliver effective presentations.
High level of initiative and comfortable working independently in home-office.
Outstanding planning and organizational abilities. Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
Persuasive and effective communicator with excellent writing, listening and oral skills.
Familiarity and skill with the tools of the trade including written communication, market research, Microsoft software suite of products, visual communication software products, and customer relationship management software

Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends
Some travel will be required. Must possess a valid driver’s license and/or passport.
Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
