Do you love research, data analysis and statistics? FIA is creating a new position, Manager, Data Analysis to develop our collection, organization and presentation of data. We are looking for someone who is excited about the opportunity to build a new data analysis service and develop FIA's data visualization tools for use in both print and online media.
As a non-profit trade association, FIA is in a unique position to provide our members and the general public with a reliable and centralized source of industry data. FIA currently collects and stores several types of quantitative data on derivatives markets. We plan to 1) expand the scope of the data being collected, 2) improve the processes used to capture, store and retrieve the data, 3) publish the data more frequently, and 4) introduce new tools for presenting the data in charts, tables and graphs.
The Manager of Data Analysis will play a key role in the development of FIA’s data resources, working closely with FIA’s technical staff under the supervision of FIA’s Senior Vice President for Publications, Data and Research. The successful candidate will need a combination of technical, presentation and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Developing FIA existing data resources and publications. This will involve, among other things, sorting and aggregating data, identifying patterns, preparing visualizations, and converting analysis into insights relevant to association members, government policymakers, other industry organizations and the media;
Identifying new sources of data, using internal and external feedback, and incorporating these new sources into FIA’s database;
Working with the website team to create a new section of the FIA website with graphics showing trends and patterns based on data in the FIA database;
Working with the data entry team to verify data and enhance data collection procedures;
Working with the communications and marketing teams to improve the design and utility of FIA’s data-related publications; and
Working with the CEO and senior staff to integrate data elements into FIA speeches, white papers, magazine articles, website and other communications.
Bachelor’s Degree; 3-6 years of work experience in the field of statistics & data analysis. Background in finance and/or financial services is a plus.
Self-starter with a commitment to accuracy
Strong project management skills
Expertise with tools like Excel and Tableau. Fluent in SQL for use in querying Oracle, SQL Server, and other enterprise databases
Proven ability to extract and analyze data and synthesize findings into presentations for decision-makers
Proven ability in data visualization in both document and online formats
