SOCMA is seeking to hire an individual to serve as the Senior Manager, Industry Relations & strategic Partnerships. Reporting to the Senior Vice-President, Industry Development and Strategic Partnerships, this position is responsible for managing overall member, non-member and stakeholder engagement strategies through the Association’s industry sector program, promoting innovation and business opportunities within the specialty and fine chemicals industry. Accomplishment of these objectives requires an understanding of key public affairs, and policy issues impacting the industry. The incumbent will work across all departments to research, assess, and execute membership and program growth goals. He or she will be responsible for ensuring that effective membership on-boarding and retention programs are in place.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Works across all departments to develop strategic and operational plans to enhance member, non-member and stakeholder engagement and understanding of SOCMA with a focus on the ChemSectors program, services, and events. Implements and executes an effective association public affairs campaign and membership value program, facilitating support from various departments to ensure SOCMA is engaging new members, nonmembers and stakeholders.
Identifies key aspects of the various programs, services and events by the industry sectors groups to ensure relevance to members’ business interests with a goal of increasing member engagement.
Collaborates and engages with other departments (GR, Communications & Marketing, Compliance & Stewardship) to communicate the value of SOCMA’s programs, services, and events.
Spearheads development of educational materials and marketing collateral that illustrates the value proposition to existing and prospective members.
Develops content for social media, digital media platforms, website and publications as appropriate.
Plans and executes national and regional events and works with the Senior Manager, Meetings on logistical support.
Plans and executes association webinars on how to maximize member benefits and education topics.
Responsible for ensuring a process for tracking company contacts, demographics and activity information is accurate and current in the SOCMA membership database (Protech), in collaboration with the IT department.
Works with IT department to generate reports to measure membership engagement, financial and demographic information for planning and outreach purposes.
Travels to industry events (including trade shows), and other outreach functions for recruitment and retention purposes (up to 25% travel).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Possess strong organizational and communications skills to assure that all engagement and education activities are properly planned and executed.
Strong customer service skills coupled with strong interpersonal and communication skills with staff, members, prospects and other key stakeholders.
Able to work across departments to implement engagement and education strategies and goals.
Strong planning skills and ability to understand long-term goals while prioritizing efforts to focus on project needs, details and results.
Ability to exercise strong judgment in analysis, appraisal, evaluation and problem solving of a complex procedural, organizational, administrative or technical nature.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office software including (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), database systems, and the Internet.
Demonstrated ability to effectively coordinate and complete simultaneously assigned tasks in a timely manner. Time sensitive and deadline oriented.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Public Affairs, or related area.
Experience in public affairs, and corporate engagement and retention, with the ability to successfully promote programs, products and services to members.
Proven track record of growing strong client relationships.
Knowledge of chemical or related industry preferred.
