Shop Environments Association, the global trade association dedicated to enhancing retail environments and experiences, is looking for a Director of Membership Development and Engagement to join our team in Hollywood, FL.
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Director of Membership Development and Engagement oversees membership and membership development, from A-Z. It requires strong leadership with experience in working with volunteers to drive new initiatives forward.
This position is a hands-on position that requires daily contact with members and prospects, ensuring they have the best of customer service from all staff, and have the most valuable services and products available to help them and their companies succeed. It includes customer service at the highest levels, even if you must get your hands dirty assisting with shipments and mailings. This position also serves as the Staff Liaison for committees and other sub-groups of membership.
Oversee all aspects of membership development, service and engagement.
Set goals for member retention and new member acquisition and work collaboratively with membership and marketing teams to achieve.
Ensure efficient and effective systems for membership, including data integrity, backend workflow, dues invoicing, system enhancements and implementation of new technologies and association management systems.
Proactively provide analysis of membership-related trends.
Lead research in deepening member value and engagement.
Ensure “Member First” superior customer service.
Work collaboratively with marketing and communications team to develop effective messaging and identify appropriate channels to help members understand and increase use of programs and services.
Ensure integrity of data by developing and ensuring adherence to processes and procedures for data and list management.
Constantly assess membership categories, services and benefits for relevance.
Make recommendations for benefits relevant to specific membership categories.
Manage the welcome@ email to respond to all emails in a timely manner.
II. Chapter/Affiliate Relations
Build and maintain relationships with Global Leaders of our affiliates by establishing regular contact and support.
Create and deliver chapter/affiliate communication schedules, and maintain an online resources area for their benefit.
III. Business Development
Design and implement new business development programs focusing on acquisition of industry members.
Partner with stakeholders in assessing existing benefits.
Travel to industry events for recruitment purposes.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Experience and a working understanding of association management systems and/or customer relation management systems
Attention to detail
Working knowledge and understanding of budget preparation
Critical thinker with problem solving mind
Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple activities
Ability to interact well with staff, management team and volunteer leaders
Flexible, with a collaborative attitude and a willingness to say yes
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing or a related field
Five years experience in membership management
Proven computer and editing skills (Mac preferred)
