Vice President of Member Services & Engagement opening at the American Financial Services Association (AFSA), the primary trade association for the consumer credit industry, located in Washington, DC (near Farragut West Metro) with a staff of 28. AFSA represents more than 400 companies and shapes the industry's direction and positions on a broad range of public policy issues that affect the industry. The VP is responsible for strategic direction and financial management of the association’s member services and membership engagement by expanding AFSA’s visibility, membership growth and delivering added value to members; working to advance and support the association’s policy and program initiatives; advising on the development of committees and working with committee and board staff liaisons to ensure maximum enrollment and member participation. He/She serves as a senior expert and liaison to current and prospective members of the association and the industry it represents. Most importantly, the new VP must have excellent sales and marketing skills to promote memberships for both large and small companies, a comfort and ease in relating to management as well as C-level executives, strong relationship building skills, and an entrepreneurial, creative approach to problem solving.

Bachelor’s degree. Advanced degree preferred.
Minimum 8-10 years’ work experience in association management or a senior level corporate marketing/sales position. Financial services industry experience a plus.
The individual must have strong interpersonal skills both as a communicator and active listener. Demonstrated ability in membership development --- to recognize member/industry concerns and recommend solutions.
Experience developing and executing strategic business plans.
Exceptional written communication and presentation skills and demonstrated ability to effectively interface with senior management and board of directors.
