We are seeking a Part Time, contract Web Editor to oversee and maintain ASGE’s main website, ASGE.org, and several microsites, in the Sitefinity CMS with the goal of maintaining fresh, current, and useful content for visitors to the site. The Web Editor will work with the site's content contributors, determining the type, quality and quantity of content needed for the website. He/she will edit content, manage the editorial process for a team of content contributors and may assign projects to the team, as needed. He/she also will support the content editors in using the Sitefinity CMS. Other duties include monitoring the site's statistics, such as user demographics, traffic flow and search engine placement. The Web Editor will monitor activities and work with designated staff to create, update and refresh pages and other content types and to remove/replace obsolete content. He/she will assure the consistent look and feel of content in adherence to the ASGE style guide.
The Web Editor serves as liaison with graphic web designers; provides support to staff content editors/Sitefinity users; and works with vendors to create solutions/approaches to optimize content organization and navigation for best user experience. He/she assists content contributors in writing and organizing their content for the web/mobile environment. The Web Editor works with marketing and data analytics teams to facilitate tracking of relevant web utilization, navigation and key web analytics information. He/she applies knowledge of SEO to optimize placement on search engines, and gathers and reports analytics to show the impact of the website, popularity and effectiveness of content, and to track various interactions. He/she serves as liaison with vendors for the development and maintenance of Sitefinity templates, widgets, mobile applications and event sites.
Work with designated staff in the various departments to ensure timely and accurate availability of information on the website.
Publish new content using effective design and SEO strategy
Manage process for in-house content contributors team to keep content updated, accurate, fresh and effective.
Track and respond promptly to requests for Sitefinity support. Act as liaison with vendor if outside support is needed to resolve an issue.
Ensure an effective linking and cross-promotion strategy within and between different areas of the website.
Ensure the holistic effectiveness of the total website as a part of the organization’s overall digital content strategy.
Ensure adherence to organization’s style guide and web strategy.
Oversee layout (images, graphics, videos and artwork) and test presentation in various browsers and on various platforms.
Check content for accuracy and ensure that it has been approved by staff leadership.
Proofread and edit material. Work with content contributors to organize content effectively.
Collaborate with other stakeholders (e.g. web designers, marketing and communications teams) to improve article presentation.
Collaborate with vendor to ensure ongoing functionality of website features such as directories.
Comply with copyright and privacy regulations.
Monitor and report on web analytics.
Troubleshoot errors and act as liaison with vendors as needed to resolve.
Keep track of developments in web content management and creation
Proven work experience as a web editor
At least three years of experience at a management level within a medical organization or similar
Editing skills with a demonstrable portfolio of recently published work
In-depth knowledge of Sitefinity content management system
Hands-on experience with MS Office, InDesign, Photoshop or other publishing tools, and ad publishing software
In-depth knowledge of SEO
Working knowledge of CMS interfaces with IMIS or similar database, including dynamic population of content
Knowledge of AMS and e-commerce is a plus
Knowledge of Google Analytics
Excellent writing skills in English
Experience with medical associations and/or medical terminology is a plusAttention to detail
BS in communications, computer science or related field
Certificate in web content editing, web design or similar area
Strong communication skills and problem-solving skills
Self-motivated and highly organized
