Old Town Alexandria-based health care-related trade association seeks full-time in-house Creative Director / Graphic Designer to lead the visual development and expression of our brand. Produces a variety of publications, marketing and branding materials using brand templates and original concepts. Two-person design shop; supervises the design manager. Reports to SVP Communications.
Design branding and marketing collateral for products, campaigns, and events
Design and shepherd the design vision for association publications, including monthly 56-page magazine
Create charts, graphs, and other data visualizations from raw data
Conceive and create graphics for various social media accounts
Work with print vendors to produce printed materials on schedule
Develop graphics for web and video on an as-needed basis
Manage print and graphic workflow
Ensure quality work and timeliness of delivery across all creative projects
Provide outstanding service and responsiveness to internal “customers” by using consultative skills to anticipate customer needs, suggest alternatives, and find solutions to meet needs

Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual design, fine arts, or related field
5+ years’ work experience in graphic design with a strong design portfolio
Strong visual communicator with a sharp sense of design
Demonstrated critical thinking and leadership skills required to assure design reflects organizational strategies and priorities
Understanding of the print industry and production process
Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite in a Mac OS X environment, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and iMovie. Knowledge of Final Cut Pro and After Effects is a plus
Basic understanding of Microsoft Office programs – Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Ability to follow brand guidelines
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with careful attention to detail
Ability to handle multiple projects with changing priorities
Strong sense of customer service
Self-motivated, organized, and accountable
Resourceful problem solver
Ability to thrive under pressure with the ability to meet quick deadlines
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
