The Chicago Association of REALTORS® (CAR) unites all facets of the industry as a leading advocate for real estate, driving REALTOR® business success and economic development of our communities. CAR is the “Voice of Real Estate” in Chicago since 1883, representing more than 15,000 members from all real estate specialties. We are seeking a progressive, enthusiastic, and confident Executive Vice President to help take CAR to the next level.
Over the past year, the association has hired a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), has approved a new three-year strategic plan, conducted an internal re-organization to better align staffing needs, and launched a new staff-run culture task force. As the seventh largest local association of the National Association of REALTORS®, CAR has a visible national footprint with our leadership team also serving at the state and national levels.
The Executive Vice President will report to the CEO and will have responsibility for the centralized delivery of CAR operations including, but not limited to, performance management, implementation of the strategic plan, and supervising several members of the executive management team, while providing oversight to various departments. The EVP directly assists the CEO by carrying out delegated responsibilities and, in the absence of the CEO, assuming delegated CEO responsibilities.
Manage and build strong teams along with team leaders to embrace and lead the way for outstanding member experiences.
Directly oversee team leaders and managers for centralized functions.

Maintain metric/measurements and analysis processes to ensure member satisfaction, productivity and growth.
Regularly prepare executive updates for programs in process to keep the leadership and management team informed.
Develop an understanding of REALTOR® issues and trends.
In conjunction with the Vice President of Finance & Business Development, manage internal and external vendors responsible for delivering technology and business process services, including participating in contract negotiations, establishing and monitoring service delivery/productivity/quality standards setting priorities and analyzing costs as required.
Serves as executive-level staff support to all committees, PAG's, Task Forces as assigned by the CEO.
Attends all meetings of the Board of Directors, Finance and other meetings as appropriate. As assigned, attends State and National meetings.
Plans, organizes, coordinates and controls research and related projects and prepares reports on subjects of importance to the Association when needed.
Ensures the CEO is kept fully informed on conditions and operations of the Association and assists with day-to-day management of the Association.
Assists the CEO in all planning, formulating, evaluating and recommending to the Board of Directors for approval, basic policies and programs which will further the objectives of the Association.
Assists in preparation of Association budget, especially regarding programs and activities of the Association.
Maintains Bylaws, Operating Policies and Procedures, and Employee Handbook, in conjunction with Association legal counsel and Member Policy Division of NAR
Approves all expenditures for departmental programs.
Pivotal Experience and Expertise
Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of related experience required; Master’s degree preferred.
Five or more years of senior management experience, preferably in a professional trade association.
Project management skills and ability to manage people and teams with multiple functions on various levels in the organization required.
Excellent written, presentation and oral communication skills.
Strong emotional intelligence.
Track record of delivering quantifiable results to the organization.
Previous experience improving culture and increasing value proposition.
CAE or RCE designation preferred.
Real estate association experience a plus, but not required.
