The Director, Content & Professional Development is responsible for the identification, development, and delivery of AESP program content, training courses, certificate programs and professional development offerings. This person is aware of industry trends and activities and drives AESP’s efforts to provide high quality, relevant content, training, and professional development offerings. Successful development and execution of these offerings will position AESP as the leader in the sharing of best practices, networking and professional development. This person will continually increase both their and AESP Staff’s knowledge of programs and initiatives in the energy industry. This person will represent AESP in various industry settings, including conferences and other gatherings. This position will drive AESPs efforts in identifying and securing the participation of appropriate speakers, trainers, subject matter experts, contributing writers/bloggers and others who will help raise AESP’s visibility through the development and offering of continually evolving content. The Director, Content & Professional Development is a fulltime position and reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Develop, implement, and continuously improve AESP’s member focused offerings
Content – This position serves as the key driver of all member focused content.
Develop organizational industry knowledge - Identify key industry stakeholders and contributors and establish relationships with these experts to earn their support of AESP initiatives.
Monitor industry trends, activities, and developments and leverage that information/knowledge in to timely, relevant, and worthy offerings from AESP.
Certificate Programs – This position directly oversees the development, implementation, improvement, and delivery of all certificate programs
This person will be instrumental in the evolution of existing certificate program(s) in to an accredited certification program.
Training/Professional Development – This position oversees AESP’s development of applicable training offerings
Maintain close working knowledge of industry training needs
Manage AESP’s development, either solely or with partners, of training offerings
Webinars – Identify and secure the most up-to-date and best industry related information, speakers, and content for AESP’s webinars. Oversee staff efforts to deliver webinars.
Conference Planning Committees - Direct efforts of all Conference and Education Planning Committees and involved AESP Staff to craft the highest quality agendas
Topic Committees – Manage Topic Committees (TC)
Serve as Staff Liaison to AESP Topic Committees
Administer board level TC related activities
Oversee and provide industry knowledge to deliver AESP’s Awards program
Utilize the Topic Committees as subject matter experts and judges
Management and Administration
Contribute to development of annual operational plans and budgets
Serve as a resource to the Board of Directors in the strategic planning processes
As necessary, manage outside consulting resources, i.e. Research firms. Includes management of budgets and accomplishing defined scopes of work.
Other organizations/personnel may be assigned.

Possess substantial Energy Efficiency/Demand Side Management industry expertise.
Ability to communicate with and manage industry subject matter experts and stakeholders, managing their expectations while still protecting AESP’s interests and reputation.

Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills, especially with remote employees
Experienced in identifying, selecting, and managing consultant resources.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Experience in the Energy Efficiency/Services industry experience is required.
A four-year degree or equivalent experience in the industry is required.
An advanced degree in a related field is a plus.
