The Director of Finance is responsible for supervising the daily activities of the Accounting Technicians and streamlining the overall accounting process.
Primary duties and responsibilities:
Review and post Accounts Receivable transactions daily.
Review vendor invoices and employee expense reports prior to payment.
Administer American Express corporate card accounts including making online payments monthly.
Prepare and review monthly journal entries and conduct analysis of the major balance sheet and income statement accounts.
Supervise the collection process of past due amounts and coordinate with other departments regarding billing and collections, and propose write-offs of uncollectible balances owed.
Scan general ledger on a regular basis and reclassify any posting errors.
Assign general ledger accounts and meeting/project accounts as needed.
Reconcile bank accounts monthly.
Review and update the Accounting Procedures Manual and schedule of duties, including recommending changes.
Manage electronic timesheet system; Process bi-weekly payroll; prepare and post payroll related journal entries.
Administer electronic expense reporting system (Concur) and purchase order system (Reqlogic).
Analyze and prepare journal entries to record monthly transactions in investment accounts held by AAAE and its Foundation.
Prepare and submit electronic reimbursable expense report and documentations to USTDA according to guidelines outlined in the contract.
Track and maintain a report on Executive Committee and Board travel budget usage and ensure adherence to policy.
Assist in coordination of the annual audit.
Review and manage internal control policies and evaluate effectiveness on an ongoing basis.
Supervise Accounting Department staff, perform semi-annual performance evaluations and ensure department is properly cross trained; train other staff on accounting methods and procedures as needed.
Coordinate with HR in benefits administration and preparation of annual Government filings.
Assist Staff Vice President of Finance and Senior Vice President of Finance as needed.
Education, prior work experience, and specialized skills and knowledge:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting, CPA required
5 years experience working in and supervising in a comparable finance department
Experience and working knowledge of accounting software including Microsoft Dynamics (Solomon), iMIS and Crystal Reports
Excellent organizational and managerial skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive and confidential issues
Excellent organizational and analytical skills with strong attention to detail
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
