IEEE is looking for a results-driven professional with a focus on leading a marketing and membership team as well as developing programs for membership acquisition/retention while supporting sales initiatives, revenue growth, membership experience and public relations.
The leader of this department will need to shift between meeting and exceeding volunteer and member needs and creating an exciting Society presence in the marketplace. Membership deals with delivering on membership needs and growing membership. Marketing deals with creating an exciting image across all aspects of the Communication Society products and services – one that creates a vibrant community, including attracting new members to the society – whether that is through membership or through participating in its products and services. A key aspect of this role is the ability to partner with the volunteer leadership to accomplish the mission and goals of the Communications Society.
Develops and executes the brand strategy for the Society (website, collateral, social media, etc.)
Leads Marketing Team in working with other stakeholders (pubs, conferences, education, etc.) to create and execute the strategic marketing plan and the campaigns/tactics which support the plan to include Society branding and the marketing of conferences, events, publications, and educational offerings
Drives strategy to deliver quality creative marketing and membership solutions that will meet both the volunteers’ needs and internal marketing goals
Defines, develops, and implements, in conjunction with the ComSoc volunteer leadership, the global membership development strategy, member research plan, and priorities to support the strategy implementation; This will include but not be limited to chapters, sister societies and industry
Develops new programs for adding value to ComSoc membership such as young professional mentorship, mid-career re-education etc.
Drives membership development activities including, but not limited to, recruitment, renewal, reinstatement, and recovery programs
This position, working with his/her direct reports, will partner very closely with the volunteer leadership to develop the strategy and tactics necessary to achieve the above goals. This position reports to the Society’s Executive Director and manages 4 direct reports.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree with concentration in Marketing, Advertising, or equivalent experience; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
Must have experience managing a marketing team and able to work harmoniously with volunteers.
10+ cumulative work experience
10+ years of marketing experience including brand management, social media and channel management
7+ years’ experience with large, professional, non-profit organizations or association with membership accountabilities
Demonstrated experience with performance-based marketing campaigns and measurement tools; expertise with tracking software such as Google Analytics is a plus.
Ability to travel at 6-8 full weeks out of the year; including international
