JOB TITLE: Controller PROGRAM: Finance & Accounting LOCATION: Denver SALARY: $7,492/month
ABOUT NCSL: The National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) is the nation’s pre-eminent bipartisan membership organization for state legislators, legislative staff and other intergovernmental groups in the 50 states, commonwealths and territories and has been since 1975. NCSL provides research, technical assistance and opportunities for policymakers to exchange ideas on the most pressing state issues. Our mission is to improve the quality and effectiveness of state legislatures; promote policy innovation and communication among state legislatures; and ensure state legislatures a strong, cohesive voice in the federal system. While NCSL is bi-partisan in nature, all NCSL staff work is strictly non-partisan.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: NCSL is seeking an experienced, proven and hands-on Controller to oversee and be responsible for all financial activities, including day-to-day accounting practices, management and reporting, budget, general accounting, billing, grants financial management, adherence to Federal/State Regulations, and ensuring annual audits and related reports are completed in accordance with federal reporting requirements, GAAP, GASB and other applicable regulatory standards. In addition, this position will work closely with Conference programs to ensure accurate registrations of constituent attendees.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has direct supervisory responsibilities of approximately 5 staff members.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, copy machines, scanners and smartphones.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit; stand; walk; open filing cabinets; bend; stoop; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee may need to lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs. Requires the ability to travel locally, regionally and nationally by plane, including overnight and weekends.
