AUTM is the nonprofit leader in efforts to educate, promote and inspire professionals to support the development of academic research that changes the world and drives innovation forward through technology transfer. In this role, as the Metrics & Database Manager, you will be employed by AUTM in support of its contract to run the Federal Laboratory Consortium (FLC). FLC is the formally chartered, nationwide network of over 300 federal laboratories, agencies, and research centers that fosters commercialization best practice strategies and opportunities for accelerating federal technologies from out of the labs and into the marketplace.

What you will do:
As the Metrics & Database Manager, you will provide editorial oversight and program management of FLC’s surveys, which offer the federal labs benchmarking tools to measure their performance, and advocacy assets to tell their story to stakeholders and policy makers.
Project manage the collection, validation and organization of meaningful metrics gathered through the annual survey.
Engage and manage vendors as needed to assist with the data collection, writing, copy editing and design while maintaining overall ownership of the survey report’s style, tone, and look and feel.
Work with writers, copy editors, designers and leadership to ensure that the reports are well-considered, analytically sound, and free from grammatical, spelling and mathematical errors.
Shepherd the annual survey report’s editorial process to timely, budget-friendly publication.
Market and promote the surveys and reports to increase awareness.
Provide collaborative communications support to draft, review and edit survey content for synergistic FLC’s programs such as advocacy.
Publish additional reports such as economic impact study as required.
Maintain up-to-date survey data on FLC website.
Develop strategies to maximize effectiveness of campaigns to increase awareness and promotion on website and social media.
You will also manage and promote FLC Business Search, a searchable database enabling federal labs to market their facilities and available technologies to potential research partners.
Develop a one-stop shop to search for facilities and equipment, license-ready technologies, and programs available from labs.
Create a marketplace for federally-directed Grand Challenges, transformational solutions to large-scale national security or societal issues are rarely created by a single researcher or institution.
Implement campaigns to encourage broad participation by the labs.
Market and promote the database to potential research partners.
Track key database metrics to ensure content is up-to-date and gaining traction among target audiences.
Serve as first point of contact to field customer service inquiries.
Experience in curating content — thought leadership, data validation, analysis, graphs, tables, design elements, supplemental stories and overall copy — into a cohesive, seamless publication.
Well-developed writing and editorial skills.
Ability to understand, analyze, edit, and distill for the layman complex material in a wide range of areas.
High energy self-starter with excellent time management skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize.
Proven success in managing vendors, content providers and stakeholders to complete projects within budget and deadlines.
Interpersonal skills and assertiveness needed to solicit timely contributions from volunteer subject matter experts and expert collaboration of internal staff and external writers and reviewers.
A bachelor’s degree in marketing or communications is preferred with a minimum 5 years practical experience in marketing, PR or similar field.
Ability to organize and analyze large amounts of survey data within Excel, identify insights and key trends.
Demonstrated project management experience is preferred by not required.
Comfortable working with website content management tools such as Kentico and basic HTML code.

The salary range is $65,000 to $80,000, depending on the experience and skills a candidate brings to the position.
