The Society of American Florists is seeking a highly organized self-starter versed in educational content development to join our energetic and growing team. Recruiting and retaining industry talent is one of the pillars of the association’s new strategic plan, and this position will lead SAF’s high-profile effort to provide resources to solve this pressing challenge for the floral industry. In this newly created position, we are looking for a workforce development director who can launch and grow a Learning Management System platform that will become a hub for floral professionals to train their teams and recruit new talent to the industry while also serving as a revenue-generator for the association.
Primary Duties include:
Conduct industry and market research and work with the association’s volunteer leaders to identify professional development needs across all segments of the floral industry.
Develop metrics to assess the success of SAF’s learning and workforce development initiatives.
Develop and implement high-quality, relevant content aligned with SAF’s overarching content strategy via a Learning Management System (LMS).
Develop and continually refine business plan for platform to maximize user engagement and revenue for the association.
Work with communications manager to develop and execute learning and workforce development marketing plans.
Work with content and events staff to deliver educational content via webinars and live events that complements LMS offerings.
Identify and establish partnerships that increase and enhance SAF’s learning and workforce development initiatives.
Continually monitor, recommend and successfully implement learning techniques, new technologies and delivery methods/platforms to provide on-demand content and solve industry challenges.
Manage LMS vendor relationship, including contract management, customer service and system development issues.
Create and manage potential certification or standards programs.
Four to six years professional experience developing professional education courses and products (including via an LMS), preferably in an association environment. Proven track record of successfully developing, implementing and managing learning and workforce development programs with measurable results.
Ability to provide strategic direction for workforce development program, identifying new business opportunities and executing marketing plans.
Experience working with volunteer leaders and boards.
Outstanding written and verbal communications skills.
Outstanding customer service skills and a “can do” attitude.
Demonstrated ability to appropriately prioritize, manage, and complete multiple projects and assignments.
Budget oversight or management experience.
Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment as well as independently with minimal direction
Familiarity with Macs
