American Association of Neurological Surgeons is actively hiring for a Senior Manager, Membership & Member Engagement to join our Membership Department in Rolling Meadows, IL. This opportunity will allow you to promote the highest quality of patient care and advance the specialty of neurological surgery. We are looking for a reliable Senior Manager, Membership & Member Engagement that will oversee strategic operational management of the Membership department. This position is responsible for membership recruitment and retention strategies to position the AANS at the top of its competitive landscape. The Senior Manager, Membership & Member Engagement develops and directs membership strategy; helps AANS achieve organizational goals leveraging the database and membership metrics; promotes the value of the AANS. Directs day-to-day activities for department staff to ensure programs, processes and tasks are completed accurately, in a timely manner and within budget.
Develops and directs a comprehensive program for membership recruitment and retention and implements new strategies; recommends and manages new member benefit programs to increase value of membership.
Creates, implements and executes annual membership renewals and retention plans for AANS and subspecialty/membership sections to ensure goals are met. In accordance, manages dues billing process, reports or requested services.
Ensure AANS membership applications are processed in accordance with organizational business rules, Bylaws requirements, and compliance tracking to support monitoring of membership status changes, resignation processing, etc.
Prepares and analyzes membership metrics, including competitive data, on members’ needs, including tracking members through career stages. Communicates findings across the organization, including working with the organization’s journal publishing office (Virginia) and advocacy office (Washington, D.C.)
Coordinates numerous membership activities, volunteer and task force activities, and motivates and educates staff to participate in membership promotion and development activities.
Supervises direct reports, providing guidance and direction to ensure that projects are on schedule and staff deliver a high level of customer service and an engaging member experience. Develops staff to enhance skills and assist them with reaching their potential as specialists in their field.
Develops measurement and reporting to track the effectiveness of all membership activities and prepares reports for senior management and physician leaders.
Serves as primary staff liaison to the Membership Committee with the primary objective of serving as an expert in the functional area of membership. Supports this volunteer group with shaping the strategic direction to deliver optimum member value and member service. Provides or oversees administrative support for other membership-related committees; attending board and committee meetings as needed.
Collaborate with the marketing/communication department to execute persuasive organizational and value proposition messages for all personas. Implement the strategic and tactical promotion of member benefit programs and events to key target audiences via print, direct mail, and digital marketing platforms.
Develops and monitors budgets to ensure revenue and expenses are maintained within budget.
Collaborates cross-functionally to provide insight and leadership on projects with other departments, including, but not limited to, marketing/communications, education and IT.
Develop and implement operational policies and procedures designed to promote efficiency, data integrity and quality of service. Ensure staff interfacing with members who reach out to the main office via any mode of communication have a positive and professional engagement, conducted in a timely manner than contributes to a positive impression of the association.
College degree required.
Minimum of 8 years’ experience required. Previous health care society membership or association membership experience preferred.
Demonstrated maturity in working with physicians / physician volunteers / healthcare professionals required.
Strong project management skills with attention to detail including the ability to coordinate workflow, determine priorities, meet deadlines and effectively balance competing demands.
Team-centered focus with the ability to lead team efforts efficiently with limited resources.
Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications required. Knowledge of Association Anywhere helpful; experience in Salesforce or Community Brands platforms preferred.
Demonstrated creativity and innovation, with an eye for new opportunities.
This position may require travel up to 5%.
