ABA is seeking a Editorial Director who will work with the VP, Editorial Strategy, to develop and execute a strategy for ABA’s email bulletin program. This role will involve managing multiple editorial calendars and coordinating with stakeholders across the organization to produce relevant, engaging, high-quality content.

The Editorial Director will write and edit news and feature content for ABA email bulletins as well as ABA Daily Newsbytes and the ABA Banking Journal as needed, and provide editorial direction for the annual Chairman’s Scrapbook. This position also backs up the VP on other research and writing assignments and supports the full Member Comms team with other writing, editing and proofreading projects as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop an overall strategy for ABA’s email bulletin program.
  • Working with the VP, Editorial Strategy, engage with ABA policy experts and other stakeholders to assess current email bulletin performance, identify areas in need of improvement, and recommend changes that will enhance the overall product offering.
• Oversee development of email bulletin content.
  • Work with members of the policy team to establish production schedules and develop content for the Ag Lending, CFO, and Wealth Management and HR email bulletins.
  • In addition, provide editorial guidance and oversight for more frequent bulletins, including Compliance, Payments, Risk/Cyber and HSA. Oversee the building, proofing and deployment of emails.
• Troubleshoot user issues and provide coaching.
  • Email bulletin admins for Stensul and Eloqua.
  • Produce quarterly reports with subscriber, frequency and open rate status; and recommend improvements to design or frequency.
  • Respond to subscription requests as needed.
• Write, edit and proofread copy for ABA Daily Newsbytes.
  • Write brief news stories, as directed and following AP style, on banking policy issues.
  • Serves as a backup to the Newsbytes Associate Editor for production and deployment of the Newsbytes daily email.
• Write and/or edit online columns and feature stories for the ABA Banking Journal.
  • (Both the online and print editions) and other member communications.
• Compile and edit content for the annual chairman’s scrapbook.
• Provide writing, editing and proofing support as directed for ABA publications, advocacy and marketing materials, speeches and other projects.
