Who we are looking for:
ASCO is in search of a high performing and motivated Program Manager to oversee the program management and operations of the facilitation, planning, design, development, and implementation of ASCO Advantage courses and support the leadership of the ASCO Advantage program and the Educational Meetings division in the implementation and facilitation of the department's programs as envisaged by the Society’s strategic plan and goals of the department. Supervise junior staff members and provide dotted-line supervision to task-specific work on course.

This position is located in Alexandria, VA on a hybrid work schedule. There will be an opportunity to work remotely with occasional onsite needs.
What you will do:
- Serve as lead for designated Advantage courses; lead development of program planning, volunteer work, and delivery of program goals, including creation of meeting-specific timelines and project plans that consider relevant interdependencies for tasks and team members
- Lead key volunteer discussions during the program development process, including Course Directors, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and faculty, and guide the planning process to meet ASCO, client, and volunteer goals for the meeting
- Plan, innovate, and deliver programs consistent with the evidence of how people learn. Introduce new learning science techniques into the curriculum to evaluate effectiveness.
- Establish relationships with key volunteers (Content Developers and Faculty Speakers) to collaborate on background materials such as Advantage agendas and select slide sets
- Provide tier two or above customer service across meetings/courses for e-mail and phone accounts and provide day-to-day assistance and coaching to team members to ensure adherence to expected quality and defined timelines for the highest level of customer service
- Identify needs or changes, for existing meeting planning workflows for improvement or quality assurance by analyzing underlying issues and modifying procedures as needed
- Provide onsite support at onsite Advantage courses, including delegating tasks to other onsite staff
- Manage logistical components of courses with stakeholders from Business Development, Meetings, and Integrated Media Technology teams
What you will need in order to be successful:
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent years of experience
- 6+ years of relevant experience in program planning
- 3+ years of supervisory experience
- Proficient in Microsoft products and web conferencing tools; able to learn and adapt to new technologies and systems
- Strong leadership and managerial/supervisory skills with the ability to delegate, motivate and develop staff
- Job-specific knowledge/tools/technology, industry standards, and best practices
- Ability to anticipate the needs of internal and external stakeholders and model proactive solution building
- Sound judgment and strong decision making skills when faced with competing priorities
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- The ability to determine goals and priorities and to assess the actions, time and resources needed to achieve program goals
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate professionally with a wide variety of audiences
Work Environment
Office setting. Routinely uses standard office equipment such as phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
ADA/Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
Fast-paced office environment with extended periods seated or standing at a desk.
High use of computer and other office technology equipment.
Travel
6 – 10 days per year
