APPA, Leadership in Educational Facilities, is seeking to add an experienced Director of Professional Development & Virtual Learning, to its team. The position will entail planning, developing, promoting, conducting, and evaluating all educational and virtual learning programs. Along with the creation and curation of virtual learning offerings and execution in support of the member community.
This full-time, exempt position reports to the President & CEO.
Responsible for and execution of APPA’s educational programming portfolio.
Works with Educational Programming Work Group in establishing goals, purposes, and objectives of every APPA educational programming offering.
Assists Educational Programming volunteers and Deans in identifying appropriate presenters and faculty. Selects balance of presenters, including keynote speaker(s) for key events
Develops a complete and detailed APPA schedule of educational programming offerings.
Works in collaboration with both the Marketing and Consultant for Learning Management to develop the marketing strategy for utilization in increasing sales across all professional development areas.
Responsible for the development of potential sales leads for the Academy on Campus as well as Supervisor Toolkit in making initial contact to determine customer requirements and expectations.
Works with Marketing Consultant in developing event promotional materials.
Responsible for providing content to the APPA website.
Researches and recommends meeting sites to the President & CEO for approval.
Prepares and reviews all hotel/convention center site proposals for consideration as an APPA event destination.
Executes site visits to potential destinations.
Negotiates all hotel/convention center contracts and finalizes agreements once a site has been approved by the President & CEO.
Identify, plan, and execute online learning opportunities as well as distance learning opportunities such as webinars and live events utilizing telepresence and virtual meeting technologies.
Develop and implement strategic plans and policies for online learning, perform yearly program assessments, and provide ongoing budgetary analysis.
Collaborate with member volunteers to ensure a variety of instructional quality of courses/programs, assessment of teaching styles, and use of appropriate technology.
Provides a status report on a regular basis as determined by the President & CEO or Consultant for Learning Management regarding the status of assigned responsibilities.
Provides support in strategic development and inter-departmental coordination that enables APPA to realize its strategic objectives as defined by the President & CEO.
Develops and administers the educational programming department.
Other Department Activities
Works with other associations and companies to create partnerships for developing jointly sponsored educational programs.
Directs corresponding efforts with the engagement of Guidebook for regional/chapter utilization.
Serves as liaison to APPA regions to coordinate educational programming efforts.
4-Year degree or minimum 5 years of experience developing adult education/professional development programs, preferably in an association environment.
Experience working with volunteer committees, subject matter experts and instructors
Knowledge of learning management systems and various delivery formats preferred
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must have strong collaboration and project management skills with attention to detail
Must be able to travel when required for on-site management of education program
Budget development and administration experience.
Experience with certification and credentialing programs.
