The Membership Manager is responsible for supporting implementation of the organization’s member recruitment, engagement, and retention strategies. This role uses industry trends and knowledge to ensure an exceptional member experience. The Manager works in conjunction with all members of the Membership team, and others across the organization, and reports to the Vice President of Membership and Marketing.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Support and implement a comprehensive organization wide member recruitment and acquisition strategy, resulting in high engagement rates and retention across the Membership lifespan.
Develop and use strong knowledge of Business Group on Health’s work and other offerings, translating knowledge into a compelling value proposition used in member recruitment.
Identify new member prospects, initiate proactive communication (i.e. cold calls, email campaigns, etc.) to build awareness and follow up, as necessary.
Onboard new members, customizing experience based on membership type and level of engagement in the organization.
Maintain detailed knowledge of member organizations, translating needs and challenges to Business Group resources.
Assist members with navigating member services, to include acting as liaison when seeking direct access from internal team members.
Respond to member inquiries, directing them to the appropriate resource for resolution.
Support and engage in relationship management strategy - attend organization member meetings and select industry events, identify under-engaged members; diversify member contacts at each organization.
Use CRM to document membership engagement, identified goals, and ensure up to date information.
Engage in quarterly reviews with members, developing targeted retention outreach and company specific engagement activities for all member segments.
Play a leading role in helping to manage annual membership renewal process.
Provide insights related to planning and implementing key membership activities, identifying opportunities for the organization to better serve the members.
Provide regular updates and feedback on member trends, issues, and opportunities to Vice President, Membership and Marketing.
Monitor and track member company engagement and share relevant information with VP, Membership & Marketing and CEO on a monthly basis.
Assist Membership team with special projects and other duties, as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree required.
Eight to ten+ years in a membership-oriented association or organization within the health and well-being industry.
Experience working in a client relationship/acquisition role in the health and well-being related field preferred.
Proven experience recruiting organizational members based in the US and globally.
Strong account management and relationship building or other relevant experience
Highly proficient with membership database systems
