The starting salary for this full-time, exempt position is $60,000, depending on experience. The American Association for Public Opinion Research (AAPOR) seeks an experienced and resourceful individual who will oversee all membership functions for the association. The successful candidate will be innovative, mission-driven, culturally sensitive, and excited about the opportunity to be part of the AAPOR team. The successful candidate will work closely with all AAPOR team members and volunteers to ensure that all membership efforts achieve AAPOR’s goals and strategic objectives.
Administer all membership services, including development and execution of recruitment efforts and retention strategies.
Manage all membership dues, including generating invoices and processing payments.
Manage the delivery of all membership benefits.
Administer annual membership survey
Review benefit offerings, in conjunction with the Membership and Chapter Relations Committee.
Prepare monthly membership reports and track growth, retention, and engagement.
Prepare monthly AAPOR chapter reports for membership and quarterly dues reports.
Manage onboarding of all new members with assistance from the AAPOR Welcoming Committee.
Maintain the membership database including regular clean-up efforts.
Manage all AAPOR chapter and affinity group relations.
Plan and oversee the annual membership drive in conjunction with the Membership and Chapter Relations Committee Chair.
Manage access to and serve as the members’ point of contact for AAPOR’s journals.
Serve as the staff liaison to the Membership and Chapter Relations Committee and the Standards Committee.
The successful candidate will:
Be proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Have experience using an AMS, knowledge of Rhythm or AMS transition is a plus.
Have at least four years of experience in association or nonprofit membership.
Have familiarity with basic accounting principles.
Be creative, especially in engaging new and existing members.
Be willing and able to travel at least a few times per year.
Be located in the Washington, DC area.
Have a bachelor’s degree.
Be a proactive, take-charge person. AAPOR has a small staff, and all employees need to take full ownership of their role with minimal oversight.
Have excellent organizational skills.
Be a superior multitasker, managing several priorities simultaneously.
