The American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP) is looking for a passionate part-time Communications Associate. The AANP represents over 2,000 licenseable naturopathic doctors and medical students of accredited naturopathic medical schools.
This is a remote position for a small-staff association operating under a distributed workforce model with a very family-friendly work ethos. We are a mission-driven organization: a deep passion for natural health and naturopathic medicine is essential.
There is the possibility to job share this position with a partner organization, which could bring it up to full-time. Candidates should indicate if they are interested in this.
Job Summary: This part-time position will assist with communications and media projects to support all AANP programs, including executing social media campaigns, creating email blasts and newsletters, managing web content, and performing other activities for designing, maintaining, modifying and monitoring internet-based documents and websites of the association. The ideal candidate should be able to write proficiently while adhering to deadlines and should be an excellent communicator with strong attention to detail. You will need to be self-directed, able to balance multiple demands and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines, and take charge and propose strategies. But as in all small staff organizations, you will roll up your sleeves for everyday tasks. Key Responsibilities
Social Media
Create, develop, implement and manage all social media activities and content on all AANP social media channels.
Assist with maintaining and updating all areas of websites including blogs, calendar listings, and media sections.
Manage responsive and proactive engagement with public and member posts.
Track social media exposure and trends and recommend strategies for increasing visibility and engagement.
Email Communications:
Coordinate and create email blast campaigns using subscriber lists, databases, and memberships.
Create and edit communications copy (e.g. email blasts, member and non-member publications/newsletters).
Maintain email templates, lists, and scheduling of email blasts.
Communications Support:
Update databases and media lists.
Assist in researching, writing and editing content for distribution including graphics, photos, and videos.
Assist with developing public relations and promotional materials.
Regularly collect data, prepare reports/presentations and provide analytics.
Other duties may be assigned.

Must have a thorough understanding of all social media platforms and singular ability to write, edit and upload engaging posts utilizing copy, photos and/or video.
Proficiency working with technology, primarily websites, databases, Microsoft Office, PhotoShop, Canva and Google Suite. People who are not comfortable with technology should not apply.
Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills with ability to present information clearly, succinctly, and persuasively.
Must demonstrate exceptionally strong skills in writing, editing, and proofreading; have a great creative aesthetic; and be able to adapt to the style and tonality most becoming to each platform.
Proficiency with all social media platforms.
Familiarity with AMS or LMS systems in general. Proficiency with HigherLogic Informs is a MUST and with YourMembership is a plus.
Familiarity with Google Analytics.
Superior organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines, prioritize and successfully accomplish multiple projects simultaneously.
Knowledge of media relations, digital media and social media strategies.
Ability to work independently with a high level of initiative, self-motivation, commitment to getting the job done, and familiarity with fulfilling project-based performance objectives.
Flexible schedule to accommodate some late evenings and weekends.
Demonstrated passion for healthcare advocacy generally, and specifically natural medicine.
Education & Experience
Minimum BA/BS degree, 2+ years of work experience in communications and social media.
