The American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry (AAGP) managed by Degnon Associates, an accredited Association Management Company in McLean, Virginia, seeks an Executive Director to work alongside the Board of Directors to lead and support all areas of the association. The Executive Director will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the organization and for implementing the organization’s recently approved strategic plan.
Key Responsibilities
The Executive Director’s role will include, but not be limited to:
Support the Board of Directors and Committees
Budget development and ongoing financial management
Drive revenue growth
Design and implement membership growth plan
Enhance existing, and launch new, member programs and services
Drive the Annual Meeting’s growth in terms of value, attendance and profitability
Build and execute web and social media strategy
Oversee external contractors managing journal and other publications
Develop and execute a corporate fundraising strategy
Ensure transparency and compliance with financial, tax, legal, and regulatory requirements
Oversee organizational governance
The American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry is a membership association of more than 1,000 geriatric psychiatrists and other health care professionals in the United States, Canada, and abroad, dedicated to the mental well-being of older adults.

Education & Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree required.
Certified Association Executive (CAE) required.
Experience
- 10+ years medical association management experience
- Successful track record working with volunteer Boards and Committees
- Highly professional communication and interpersonal skills
- Project management skills, with track record of successful completion of projects
- Financial management and event planning experience
