The American Burn Association (ABA) is on a mission to transform burn care education — and we’re looking for an energetic, detail-savvy Educational Programs Senior Specialist to help and be part of our passionate team!
In this highly visible role, you'll be at the heart of planning and delivering the ABA’s signature event, the Annual Meeting, while also supporting the growth of year-round professional development programs. From speaker management and accreditation tracking to logistics and learner engagement, you’ll help bring high-impact educational experiences to life — in-person, virtual, and online.

Summary The Educational Programs Specialist will drive the success of the American Burn Association’s (ABA) Annual Meeting and broader educational portfolio. This highly visible role not only manages the coordination of speakers, sessions, disclosures, and accreditation for the Annual Meeting but also plays a strategic part in expanding how ABA delivers educational content across live events and other professional development initiatives. Responsibilities The Education Program Specialist will be responsible for the following: 1. Annual Meeting Leadership
Oversee the end-to-end management of speakers, sessions, disclosures, and materials using the abstract/speaker management system.
Serve as the primary liaison to moderators and speakers, ensuring compliance with timelines, accreditation standards, and content quality expectations.
Manage the poster presentation process and Best in Category awards.
Collaborate across teams to produce the registration brochure, program book, abstract book, and other key meeting materials.
Coordinate post-meeting evaluation processes and generate accreditation reports and insights to drive continuous improvement.
Live Education Event Coordination
Manage speaker communications, session logistics, and accreditation compliance for ABA’s live education events throughout the year.
Collaborate with marketing and other teams to ensure accurate, timely promotion and information-sharing for educational offerings.
Support expansion of ABA’s education catalog by helping identify and organize Reusable Learning Content (RLCs) from live events.
Publish and maintain online RLCs and other education as Learning Management System (LMS) Administrator working with internal teams to ensure branding and design are correct and meet expected standards.
Track and summarize learning outcomes from professional development activities to contribute to ABA’s broader educational quality improvement efforts.
2. Accreditation and Compliance
Maintain detailed accreditation records (ACCME, ANCC, AOTA, Illinois Dept. of Professional Regulation) and ensure that all activities meet continuing education standards.
Assist in renewing and maintaining ABA’s accreditation statuses.
Support continuous quality improvement initiatives to strengthen ABA’s reputation as a premier educational provider.
3. Strategic Education Initiatives
Manage customer service inquiries, project tasks (via Jira and Confluence Customer Service platform), and contribute to cross-functional education initiatives that advance ABA’s mission.
Support projects to diversify ABA’s educational products, incorporating principles of adult learning theory and best practices in curriculum development.
Help identify and coordinate content opportunities that extend beyond the Annual Meeting, including webinars, online learning modules, and specialty courses.
Demonstrate willingness to present ABA’s educational outcomes and innovations through professional publications, conference abstracts, or presentations at external meetings.

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree preferred in education, nonprofit management, meeting/event planning, or related field, or equivalent experience.
3–5 years of experience in education programming, preferably within healthcare, nonprofit, or association settings.
Experience coordinating with speakers and sessions for large-scale meetings or events; abstract management platform experience strongly preferred.
Knowledge of continuing education accreditation standards (ACCME, ANCC, AOTA) preferred.
High-level project management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and juggle multiple projects.
Strong professional communication skills (written and verbal) and acute attention to detail.
Comfort learning new systems and tools quickly; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
Experience with healthcare education, continuing professional development, or adult learning principles a plus.

The American Burn Association is a not-for-profit professional membership organization. Our mission is to improve the lives of everyone affected by burn injury. Our over 2,000 multi-disciplinary members include physicians, nurses, therapists, social workers, fire fighters and others who are part of the burn care team.
Our staff of 13 works collaboratively as a team, and closely with our dedicated volunteers, to advance the field through education, research, improving quality care, advocacy, prevention and member services. We are located in the Chicago south loop just blocks from the train station.
