The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the Finance Manager and Director of Finance in the day-to-day operations of the finance department ensuring that financial operations run smoothly including recording of revenue, expenses, reconciliations, and journal entries. Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
• Manage and process Accounts Receivable (AR) transactions including monitor, journalize, track all bank account activity, and make recommendations for write off
• Monitor policies, procedures, and controls relating to finance roles and function; identify and suggest improvements and efficiencies
• Prepare month end close schedules
• Reviews, records, and reports financial transactions in accordance to established accounting principles (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles - GAAP), policies, and objectives
• Prepare and maintain monthly general ledger reconciliation
• Respond to vendor and employee inquiries in a timely manner
• Manage bi-monthly timecards for staff in Paycom
• Administrator for ACTFL’s corporate credit card expense system (Expensify)
• Assist Finance Manager with year-end close processes, budgets, audit Prepared by Client (PBC) schedules, annual audit inquiries/requests and financial statements
• Ensure compliance with federal and state reporting requirements
• Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures
• Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• Associate degree in accounting and five (5) years of relevant work experience; or a bachelor’s degree in accounting, and three (3) years of experience of relevant work experience
• Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Experience with Microsoft 365 and accounting software e.g., Intacct/Sage, Paycom, Bill.com, and Expensify helpful
• Strong analytical, planning, organizational skills, and attention to details
• Nonprofit experience with grant billing preferred
