AIAS is seeking a Manager of Communications and Social Media to creatively position and promote the Association, its programs, and its members, through its social media channels and member communication vehicles. Reporting to the Executive Director, this role is responsible for developing, executing, and reporting on social media engagement and communications strategies that advance a variety of Association efforts. This individual is also responsible for the development of content for AIAS’ weekly e-newsletter, marketing emails, blog posts, and other website content, as well as providing support for CRIT Journal. As AIAS works to more clearly articulate the value of membership, the Manager of Communications and Social Media will collaborate with the Director of Membership and Marketing and other staff to advance these efforts.
Responsibilities include: Drafting and delivering appropriate informational and promotional messages; developing content for, and overseeing production of, AIAS’ weekly e-newsletter; recording, editing, and project-managing the creation of engaging videos and posts for use on social media and the website; helping develop, and monitor the success of, an AIAS podcast program; engaging in active listening on social media sites with an ear toward responsive engagement with member conversations, including triaging content and tapping staff subject matter experts for response; sharing responsibility for overseeing and updating the AIAS website; exploring new social media tools and tactics, assessing their benefits of use to amplify engagement with AIAS on social media; and providing support to volunteer leaders and other staff on the production of CRIT Journal.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Three to four years of progressively responsible communications experience in social media and organizational communications in a nonprofit or trade association environment is beneficial
- Excellent verbal/written communication, proofreading, and editing skills
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Experience with social media platforms in a professional setting (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube)
- Some familiarity and aptitude with WordPress a plus
- Experience working in a digital communications platform (MailChimp, Informz, ConstantContact, or similar platform)
- Experience with graphic design platforms (Canva, Adobe)
- Experience with video gathering and editing platforms (Zoom, YouTube, iMovie)
- Some travel required; occasional evening and weekend work where necessary.
